Rob White
Cape Town - South Africa

Easily the most prolific prolific DJ on the GRATIS/REJECT roster 'The Purist' as he used
to be known has been a professional DJ for more than 15 years and knows everything there is to know about House
Music. His style is predominantly underground deep house with some hard funk and tech house thrown in for good
measure - though these days he's not adverse to dropping in the odd party starter or anthemic classic. In his
own words; "Music that both boys AND girls like!"
Having learnt his mixing skills in London Rob moved to Cape Town in 1995 and established the first true Deep House club in South Africa - The Funktion -
widely regarded as kickstarting the phenomenal South African deep house scene.
Rob was resident there for three years until its closure in 1998.
Aside from The Funktion Rob also held residencies at More, The Fez, The Loft, Rush,
Angels, The Gallery, Sky, Piano Lounge, Rhythm Divine and many others, and also
played at most of the many international events in Cape Town between 1995 and 2000.
No stranger to big names Rob has done support gigs for many major artists including:
Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Armand v. Helden, & many others; Miles Hollway, Jef K, Murray
Richardson and Didier Sinclair to name but a few.
Rob is also the founder of 'Relief', an organisation that specialises in quality House events, on beaches,
mountains, in warehouses, boats & clubs across Cape Town and now London.
